Wimbledon
   Wimbledon is the most famous tennis tournament in the world, hosted on the grass courts of the All England Club in Wimbledon, London. Lasting for a fortnight from the last week of June, it is one of the four grand slam tournaments, along with the Australian, French and US Opens. The tournament has had to adapt to the pressures of the commercial era, while striving to maintain its traditional character. It offers increasing levels of prize money and has invested strongly in facilities, such as the building of a new Number One Court. The tournament attracts global interest and has become a summer tradition in Britain, despite the lack of British success in recent years. The Club celebrated its centenary in 1977.
